About Me

Veronica was born in Santiago, Chile. She started doing community outreach when she was in elementary school! She organized her school to sale cakes and collect newspapers to go to the museum. She loves the outdoors and will try all sports. She is known as “the spice girl” as she brings fun and a positive attitude wherever she goes. She is always embracing adventures and loves to go biking, climbing, kayaking, hiking, and backpacking. 

Veronica studied international business in her home country and worked in the corporate area, and when she migrated to the USA in 2004, she learned English on her own, and pursued higher education. She maintained a full-time job and went to college for 9 years. She graduated with honors from Old Dominion University Bachelors Degree in Human Services, and received the Special Achievement Award when finishing her Master of Public Administration in University of Wilmington in North Carolina.

Veronica has done advocacy and outreach for decades! Despite her busy schedule, she volunteered at a local soup kitchen and helped with translation at the domestic violence center. She has supported the immigrant population, not only translating, but also in connecting them with resources. While pursuing her degrees, she worked in Human Resources, and helped the disabled population to access employment.

As a Graduate Student Assistance, Veronica got involved with Respite program, to address high levels of recidivism in the medical field. She created relocated to Richmond in Virginia, where she has been involved with advocacy and outreach, and language justice efforts.

In 2018, Veronica created a Radio Program to connect the Hispanic Community with mental health services. In 2021, she developed series of training about hope, resilience, trauma, and community resources. She has maintained a peer support group, assisting the Spanish speaking community to embrace their heritage, adapt to a new culture, connect with resources, develop resilience, gain confidence, and empathy.

Veronica has provided facilitation and translation services for years. She has experience in the justice, educational, medical, government, for-profit, and non-profit field. She is driven to solve all kinds of problems and is “eternal optimist.” She will often remind others to take a deep breath and develop gratitude as “gratitude is the language of miracles!”

Veronica has an amazing skill to adapt, connect, and motivate others.  She has a natural capacity to transform challenges into opportunities. She loves to work “in the trenches” and help agencies and communities to thrive. She has a passion for equity and can be often found solving problems and helping others to embrace the value of collaboration, participation, and growth.
